" ...let us do good to all people" Galatians 6: 10
Socks Ministry
Socks are important for a number of reasons. Not only do socks keep feet warm, but they also absorb moisture, cushion every step, and help prevent foot damage and disease. A fresh, new pair of socks can lift spirits and just make a person feel better – especially those who are down on their luck and can’t afford them. This is why socks are the most-requested clothing item by the homeless, and the shelters that house them. Everyone needs socks – men and women, boys and girls. Socks are one of the least expensive clothing items, and they are small and easy to handle, they can fit men and women equally well, and there are fewer sizes to worry about.
This is why it is our mission to collect new socks and distribute them to those in homeless shelters who really need them. This is an ongoing effort by the J.O.Y Women’s Ministry that is supported by those both inside and outside of our church. We are able to provide more than 500 pairs of socks each year for the homeless, but there is always a need for more. If you would like to play a part in helping the homeless and the needy, please donate new socks… or if you prefer, make a donation to this ministry that will be used to purchase socks to be donated.
Socks or donations for this purpose can be dropped off at, or mailed to, the Pantano Baptist Church, 225 S. Pantano Road, Tucson, AZ 85710. If you are interested in getting involved and helping with this effort, please contact the church office at (520) 296-3740.
