Dress A Girl - Around The World

Dress A Girl - Around The World  is a program of Hope 4 Women International that works to bring dignity to girls and women around the world by providing a new dress to at-risk girls who have never had one. This is done regardless of race, ethnicity, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, sexual orientation, religion, age, socioeconomic status, marital status, language, disability, or immigration status. Since its inception in 2009, more than 2 million dresses have been distributed to girls and women in 90 countries, including the United States, where they are distributed to homeless shelters, Indian reservations, and other areas of need.

The J.O.Y Women’s Ministry has proudly supported this effort for years by making dresses and providing them to Hope 4 Women International to be distributed to those who need them. Every 3rd Saturday of each month, this group of dedicated volunteers meets at the church to make dresses. During that time, hundreds of dresses have been made by the women of the J.O.Y. Women’s Ministry, and that number continues to grow every month.

The demand for these dresses is always much greater than the supply, so more help is always needed. If you can sew, your help is needed and would be greatly appreciated (we have sewing machines, but you can bring your own if you prefer). If you can’t sew and don’t have a sewing machine, there are other ways that you can help… if you can wield a pair of scissors, you can help cut material from patterns.

There is plenty of conversation and fellowship associated with being a part of this group – not to mention the satisfaction that comes from doing something unselfish that will benefit others. Contact our church office if you would like to be a part of this worthwhile effort… it’s a great way to meet new people and join them in a team effort!
