The Navajo nation has been hit particularly hard by the Covid-19 virus for a number of reasons, and resources that most of us take for granted are simply not available to the Navajo people in many rural and isolated locations. Many residents do not have electricity or running water, and many families are hours away from medical and other facilities. The Navajo Nation continues to be a Covid-19 hotspot, and they need our help!
That’s why our church is participating in an effort, launched by CBF West and guided by Pastor Greg Long of Flagstaff, AZ, to provide food, medical supplies, and other such necessities to isolated families that are struggling to survive. Greg and his wife Sheila grew up on the Navajo Reservation, so they have tremendous empathy and compassion for people living on the native land. Pastor Glen Foster, a CBF West coordinator, has wholeheartedly embraced this worthy cause and inspired our church members to join this effort. Supported by donations from throughout the United States, Pantano Baptist Church congregants have come together to assemble care boxes, which Glen personally helps deliver to deserving Navajo families in remote areas of northern Arizona, where the roads are so rough that speeds are limited to 10 miles per hour. Donations are welcome, and every penny donated to this cause will go directly toward the purchase of supplies, since volunteers provide all of the labor and transportation. If you can help, please make checks payable to CBF West and specify Navajo Covid Relief. Mail checks to Glen Foster, 60474 E Eagle Ridge Drive, Tucson, AZ 85739.
Care boxes contain vital supplies that will help keep families safe and healthy.
In a labor of love, our church volunteers carefully pack all of these items for delivery to Navajo families in northern Arizona.
Intended delivery destinations are remote and difficult to get to, which makes it that much more important.
Care boxes are delivered, one box at a time, to appreciative families who really need these items.
